Exports from Asia totaled an estimated US$6.928 trillion in 2018. That dollar amount for the Asian continent reflects a 2.4% uptick since 2014 and a 10.2% year-over-year increase from 2017 to 2018.
International product sales originating from Asia represent over a third (35.8%) of overall global exports.
Calculated using statistics from the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook Database, the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for selected Asian countries on a Purchase Power Parity (PPP) basis amounted to roughly $59.972 trillion in 2018. Therefore, Asian exported goods account for an estimated 11.6% of Asia’s total economic output in terms of GDP converted using PPP.
Given Asia’s population of approximately 4.2 billion people, the total $6.928 trillion in 2018 Asian exports translates to roughly $1,650 for every person living on the Asian continent.
