The steps of customs declaration
Step 1/ Customs documents preparations
Mandatory documents
- Sales contract: Written agreement between two parties: buyer and seller, includes the information of buyer and seller, commodity information, quantity, delivery condition, payment method.
- Commercial invoice: document issued by the exporter show the payment request: unit price, total amount, payment method, beneficiary information,…
- Packing list: Document showing number of items, mode of packing, shipment’s value is excluded.
- Bill of lading: Document confirming which kind of transportation for the shipment (Seaway or Airway)
Step 2/ Customs declaration submission
Customs declaration transmission to the software and view the declaration flow for approval, preparing appropriate documents depends on the status of the cargo.
Step 3/ Status of the cargo
The status of cargo will be channeled in different channels. It is one of the effective tools, procedures and forms to help customs authorities supervise, inspect and manage all shipments coming in-out of Vietnam border.
- Green channel: Cargo is exempted from document details check and actual inspection
- Yellow channel: Document details checked, exempted from actual inspection. Dossier includes: Customs declaration; Commercial invoices; Documents (B/L; C/O; C/Q)
- Red channel: Document detail check and actual inspection
